WHO’S WHO!
The Village is a Florida Homeowners Association run by nine directors who make and create policy. These directors are Paul Dow, President, and Christine Connolly, Vice President. Directors are Mariann Bond Secretary, Dave Wallace, Ruth McGuire,Wally Whitford, Earl Schmidt, John Ravena, and Dick Froment. Harold Whittum is the Treasurer.  

Paul Dow, President   Paul was elected to the Board of Directors in March of 2007. He and his wife Mary Jane are from Rhode Island and have been property owners in the Village since 1989. Paul is a 1964 graduate of the United States Naval Academy and a retired Navy Commander. After retirement he worked in the Defense Industry providing program support for submarine underwater weapons, fire control and launcher systems. For the last five years of his career he worked for Fidelity Investments as an Operations Specialist. Paul and Mary Jane have been residents of the Village since 2004. Both of their parents, Alice and Cliff Dow and Andy and Vi Vorro were prior residents here. Paul has recently developed a VHL Website (villageofholidaylake.com).  

Christine Connolly, Vice President     Christine and husband Kevin are permanent residents of the Village. Both are working but Christine works part time so she can devote her many hours to VHL. Christine is in addition to a director, the line dance instructor , Bingo coordinator  is a professional marketing manager.

Dave Wallace, Director   Dave and wife Beverly hail from Michigan. Dave is active in the Men's Club, and is always a  helping hand around the Village.

Wally Whitford, Director   Wally and wife Julie are full time residents of the  Village. Wally has served on the Planning Committee as well as being past  Chair of WWaterfront Development. Wally enjoys boating  and he and Julie travel in their RV.

Mariann Bond, Secretary/Director    Mariann resides in the Village with husband Bill and son Brian. After vacationing at VHL for many years the Bond’s decided to make VHL their permanent home. As a retired teacher, Mariann enjoys working not only for the Village but for Quilt’s N’ More where she gets to “work” at her favorite pastime - quilting! Mariann gives insightful advice and lots of energy to every undertaking.

Ruth McGuire, Director   In residence since 1994, Ruth is married to Bill McGuire and has 4 adult children and 6 grandchildren. The McGuire’s are at a stage in their lives where they want to enjoy the things that make living good. They enjoy family, friends, living at VHL and travel to all parts of the world. “My outlook for the future of VHL is bright. We have a good system in place and with each owner's help we will succeed in keeping our Village a viable one.”

John Ravena, Director:   John and Mena Ravena have been  seasonal residents in the Village for many years. John has been very active as Chair of Finance Committee over the years. In financial acumen is only exceeded by his ability to perform in the many VHL  shows.

Earl Schmidt, Director   Earl and his wife Lanette  are in Florida most of the year and during that time Earl works as a pastoral leader and counselor.

Dick Froment, Director    Dick and wife Carleen hail from Rhode Island and are seasonal owners. Dick  has been very involved with C.E.R.T. and is a fund raiser extrodinaire.  

Harold Whittum, Treasurer    In 1986, Harold and , Esther, moved to VHL from New Hampshire. They became involved in the many activities offered here in the Village. He has served as a director, vice president, and president of the Board of Directors and presently serving as Treasurer. "This is one great Village and a wonderful place to live".

 

THE VHL STAFF
The VHL directors make the policy but it is the duty of management to carry those policies. Nancy Leighton and her most capable staff insure that the Village is kept clean, orderly and remains a great place to live.

Nancy Leighton has been a Community Association Manager in Florida since 1992. Prior to coming to Florida, she worked in Association Management in Massachusetts. The lure of sunshine has kept her here for the past 18 years.

Darlene Philips has worked for VHL as Office Manager for the past 20 years. A Port Charlotte, FL native, she lives with hubby Bob and daughter Tara. In addition to her office skills, Darlene is an excellent pool player with several trophies to prove it.

Stacy Davis, also a long time employee, is the Maintenance Fore gal. Stacy lives in Port Charlotte with husband Shea and two beautiful boys, as well as two beautiful dogs and two cats!

Mike Scipioni, a Florida native, is our full time maintenance man. Mike has great expertise as a tree trimmer extraordinaire. Mike enjoys biking, gaming and most outdoor activities.

 Leal Swindlehurst , a Michigan native, resides in Port Charlotte with his wife. Leal was a Conservation Officer for the State of Michigan for more than 20 years and is a real asset to the VHL staff.

Frank Williams, a Port Charlotte resident has worked as an A1 handyman, capable of many jobs. We are fortunate to have Frank's experience.
