Presidents Message

By Christine Connolly

Wow, January was a busy month. I believe every committee met one or more times, lots of activities, a POA Meeting and even an extra board meeting. As a resident you are invited to attend any of the meetings.

I think the most defining characteristic of our community is the dedication of the many volunteers who put in countless hours to make VHL a better place to live. Through their efforts, and working together with our BOD and VHL Manager, VHL continues to be one of the greatest communities in this area. Thank you to all the committees who have been hard at work making things happen for this season.

Nominations are currently being accepted for anyone interested in running for the Board of Directors. If you want to volunteer but don't want to run for the board we still have some committees who need help. Your ideas, your different perspectives and your skills can help us effectively serve this unique community that we all call home.

The most positive thing about life in the Village is our residents. We come from different areas for "the season" but we are much like family for each other. It is comforting and reassuring to know that a friendly face and supportive shoulder are as close as your neighbor.

Finally, if you see something that needs to be done to maintain our community, let the Board know. And, of course, tell us what we’re doing right!  Sincerely, Christine

Manager’s Corner

February, can you believe it! Let’s hope for a warm and sunny month while we spread  affection and friendship to all our neighbors.

I want to talk about the bulletin board in the laundry room. The Board is for the use of all of you who want to advertise an item or items for sale or advertise a service or event. Please do not remove an item that is not yours. This is a free enterprise society and any resident may advertise without fear of his or her ad being removed. Now I do have an exception. Please, and I do mean please, do not GLUE your ad to the board. If you need pins just ask!

Did you lose any vegetation in the last freeze? Remember, if the temps are going below 30 degrees your vegetation is in danger. Cover with a cloth blanket not plastic but be sure to remove the cloth once the sun brings the temps up over 40 degrees. Hopefully we won’t have many of these days and vegetation loss is at a minimum.

I realize that you all have a busy life but just for a moment I want to review the parking rule. You all are aware you bought into a deed restricted Village and are most likely happy with that decision. A Deed Restricted Village insures that your property will be maintained, provided of course, everyone follows the rules.  The rule on parking says “All parking must be in the driveway or the carport of the individual lot. All parking must be off the streets of the subdivision.  Overnight parking in the Common Areas or residential areas is not permitted except by special request with approval of the Board of Directors or the Manager.” So if you have two vehicles and cannot fit them on one driveway the time has come to either enlarge the driveway or park a vehicle elsewhere. If you are parking your vehicles on your driveway that is terrific! If you know someone who isn’t, share this Voice article with them. Thanks!

There are lots of happenings at the Village this month so stay safe and have a great month!
